According to sources at Cime Branch, Activists of Students' Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) arrested in the serial blasts case had conducted a 'recce' at the city civil hospital to plan the terror attacks, one of the accused in the case revealed.

According to sources at Cime Branch, Activists of Students' Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) arrested in the serial blasts case had conducted a 'recce' at the city civil hospital to plan the terror attacks, one of the accused in the case revealed.


According to officials, accused Imran Sheikh along with four other's - Yunus Mansuri, Usman Agarbattiwala, Jahid Sheikh and Samsudin Sheikh, used to frequently visit the hospital during Imran's father, a heart patient, was admitted in the civil hosptial between April and July. They conducted 'recce' of the hospital premises while visiting Imran's father. Maximum number of people had died in the blast at the civil hospital.


Interrogation of accused also revealed that the real name of the computer expert Taufiq, who stayed in Ahmedabad prior to the blasts with Qayamuddin, was Abdul Subhan Usman Qureshi, was resident of Thane district in Maharashtra, crime branch officials said. Ten SIMI activists, including Mufti Abu Bashir, who is considered to be the mastermind behind the blasts of July 26, are in police custody till August 31.
Other accused sent to police custody include Jahid Sheikh, Imran Sheikh, Sajid Mansuri, Iqubal Sheikh, Shamsudin Sheikh, Yunus Mansuir, Gyasuddin Ansari, Arif Kadri and Usman Agarbattiwala.
