Rs 27 cr worldwide collection for 'Kismet Konnection' PDF Print E-mail

"Kismet Konnection", the Shahid Kapur and Vidya Balan starer, has opened to a worldwide gross box office collection of more than Rs 27 crore in the opening week. The film was released on more than 900 screens across the globe, including US, UK, Australia, the Middle East and Pakistan. According to UTV, the worldwide distributors of the film directed by Aziz Mirza, "Kismet Konnection" has grossed Rs 20.76 crore with an average per print of Rs 3.75 lakh in India.

 

In the Middle East, the film did a total business of Rs 1.12 crore. Opening numbers in the Middle East are the third highest for a Hindi film in 2008 after 'Race' and 'Jodha Akbar'. In the US, the film collected Rs 91.63 lakh till Saturday night while Australia saw a weekend collection of Rs 18.46 lakh. In Australia, the film had the third highest screen average in 2008 behind 'The dark night' and 'Mamma Mia'. In UK, the film had a cumulative weekend collection of Rs 95.51 lakh whereas, in Pakistan, the film had a bigger opening day than Race and Goal with Rs 9.6 lakh on Friday.

 

Siddharth Roy Kapur,CEO of UTV Motion Pictures said that the opening weekend collections of 'Kismet Konnection' around the world demonstrates the value of backing strong content with aggressive marketing and distribution.
