For bollywood the most rain songs are the sign of falling in love.The most unforgettable song of this mood is Pyar Hua Iqraar Hua Hai from the great RK banner movie Awara. The song stands first in the list of rain songs even today. A simple schoolteacher Nargis falls in love with a goodhearted tramp Raj Kapoor and director Raj Kapoor finds a simple and natural way to show their falling in love and thats rain.Nargis in a simple saree looks more elegant in the rain. She looks sexy but not at all vulgar and Raj Kapoor in this innocent look.The song has set the trend of sharing a same umbrella in the mumbaiya rain for the next generation of lovers.The growth of their love is shown in a very filmy way, they are shy in the the beginning and as the rain falls faster they share the saucer of chai first following the sharing of umbrella.
Another great rain song is from Mr India where Sridevi says "Lo aaj mein kaheti hoon I LUV YOU" to Mr India Anil Kapoor wearing a blue transparent saree and informs Anil Kapoor that she is also in love with him.
Anil Kapoor and Manisha koirala singing Rimjhim rimjhim room jhoom room jhoom in the movie 1942 A Love Story also fall in love in rainy situation only. But here one thing is noted that the era of 1942 is shown in the movie when the country was not independent and so their love shown in the movie is absolutely innocent and not at all sensuous a very clean romantic song.
In many new films the rain song is a dream for actors. Like in DDLJ Kajol expresses her dreams and sings Mere khwabon mein jo aye use kaho kabhi samneto aye in the rain and in a very filmy ishhtyle Shahrukh khan is introduced in the film. A bit of sexuality is also shown but this song is better known for the khwaabs and innocence of Kajol. The beautyqueen of the indian cinema Madhubala steals the heart of many in simple saree and non glamours look. But she looks gorgeous with little bit latkas and jhatkas in a typical indian way.Another similar song is from Roti Kapda Aur Makaan by Zeenat Aman and Manoj Kumar. The difference is that here Zeenat Aman is angry with the hero Manoj Kumar where its raining and on the other hand Manoj Kumar has to go for interview. So she scolds Manoj Kumar saying Teri do takiya di naukri me mera lakhon ka sawaan jaye.This type of situation is even created in our day to day life and these songs are sung today also.
