Rape scenes in bollywood nowadays have become very common. Rape scenes were introduced in films as an excuse to bring a twist to the story and give the hero a cause to fight for, or to eliminate a character from the plot (the victim almost always committed suicide). Rape has been trivialized in Hindi films to such a degree that instead of getting sympathy from the audience, young viewers are tempted to see the sexy scenes shown in the name of rape. According to one survey, every 7 movie out of 10 had rape scene from 70s till early 90s. There was a time when in a typical 'masala film' a rape scene was a must, like an 'item' number nowadays. Then, the filmmakers started taking advantage and turning rape into titillation. The scenes were shot to entertain the predominantly male audience.

Movies like ZAKHMI AURAT, PHOOL BANEY ANGAREY are based on group raping and afterwards the victim becomes police officer and finally takes the revenge them selves with the help of the power they have. JAGO is the movie also based on group raping but here the victim is a school going girl and her mother decides to take revenge
